Seniors rebates and council rules in Mount Richon
Two rebates suit Mount Richon's older households. WA Seniors Card members may be able to claim up to $400 per household towards eligible safety and security items, and the state's guide lists security window screens or window shutters, with a minimum purchase or installation value of $100. The rebate can be claimed once during the life of the scheme. On top of that, the City of Armadale's Security Incentive Scheme 2026/2027 lists roller shutters at $200, or $250 for Pensioner Concession, Health Care or WA Seniors Card holders.
As for approvals, a single house is exempt from development approval when the R-Codes apply, the work is deemed-to-comply and the home is not heritage protected. Places in nearby Bedfordale and Wungong appear on the City's Heritage List, and the City requires planning approval for any development on a listed place.
PLN 3.14, the City's Designing Out Crime policy, asks that roller shutters, where needed, be visually permeable and sympathetic to the design of the building.
