Bushfire prone land and transport corridors in Ellenbrook
On the state bushfire map in effect from 13 December 2025, 37.1% of Ellenbrook's land is designated bushfire prone. Building and Energy notes that bushfire construction rules are generally not retrospective for existing homes, and its retrofit advice is to protect windows with metal screens or bushfire shutters. What the City of Swan asks of Ellenbrook owners

Strata owners have a second step, because the strata company's approval is in addition to any development and building approvals.
One more state rule applies if a shutter is meant to screen a view into a neighbour's yard. The R-Codes visual privacy standard asks for screening devices at least 1.6m high, at least 75 per cent obscure and permanently fixed.
