Reading the small burglary numbers in Woodbridge
Woodbridge is a small suburb, with 1,207 residents at the 2021 Census, so its burglary figures need care. WA Police recorded 22 burglaries in 2025, which gives a rate of 18.2 per 1,000 residents against 4.0 for metropolitan Perth. As with every suburb, the count covers homes and businesses together.
The numbers are too small to read a trend. There were 14 burglaries in 2021, 9 in 2024 and 22 in 2025, an average of 12.8 a year from 2021 to 2025. On a base this size, a handful of incidents moves the rate a long way in either direction.
Roller shutters give a household a physical barrier on windows and doors. They make forced entry slower and noisier, and motorised shutters close from a wall switch or remote rather than by hand.

Lock and leave for Woodbridge households
8.1% of employed Woodbridge residents worked in mining in 2021, above the Greater Perth figure of 6.6%. That is a proxy for fly-in fly-out work only, since the census does not record rosters. Residents aged 65 or over made up 19.4%, also above the Greater Perth 15.8%.
Before a long trip, WA Police suggest giving a trusted person your contact details and spare keys, and setting timers for lights and electronics. Motorised shutters slot into that routine. They can run to a schedule, opening and closing at set times, and with a WiFi hub you can open and close them from your phone.
Closed through the middle of a summer day, they also keep direct sun off the glass while the house is shut up.

Shutters for Woodbridge houses and townhouses
Separate houses make up 71.9% of occupied dwellings in Woodbridge, a little below the Greater Perth figure of 77.8%. Semi-detached, terrace and townhouses account for 23.7% and flats 3.6%, and 62.4% of homes are owned.
On a house, residential roller shutters are built to each opening in our Wangara factory: we cut the Ozroll aluminium slats to size, build the pelmets and guides, and fit and test the motor. Close to one home in four is a semi-detached house or townhouse, and in a strata scheme the default by-laws need the strata company's written consent for anything visible from outside that is not in keeping with the building.
For alfresco areas, motorised outdoor blinds can be fitted with sun and wind sensors that adjust automatically to changing weather. We also make Ziptrak, Slidetrack and cafe blinds.

River, bushfire and airport noise in Woodbridge
Part of the Woodbridge boundary runs along the Swan River. Bush fire mapping covers 31.2% of the suburb on the state map in effect from 13 December 2025. Building and Energy's advice for retrofitting existing homes up to BAL-29 is that windows should be protected with metal screens or bushfire shutters, and Ozroll states its roller shutters have been tested by the CSIRO against BAL-29 and BAL-40 standards. If you have a bushfire attack level assessment for your lot, have it ready when we measure.
Perth Airport's noise contours reach into the suburb as well. On the ANEF map for ultimate capacity under the 2026 Master Plan, 30.7% of Woodbridge lies within ANEF 20 or higher, with 20-25 the highest zone reached. Great Eastern Highway, the Midland Line and the Eastern Railway freight line also pass through.

Woodbridge heritage area rules for shutters
The City of Swan has two heritage areas, one in Guildford and one in Woodbridge. If your property is inside the Woodbridge Heritage Area, the City says development approval will most likely be required for any alterations, additions or new development. Ask the City before ordering shutters for a home in the area.
The City's Woodbridge Conservation Precinct policy, approved in September 2014, also says solid or roller doors on garages facing the street are generally discouraged. That clause covers garage doors, not window shutters, but it is worth knowing if you are planning other work at the front of the house.
Outside the heritage area the usual state rule applies: a single house needs no development approval for this kind of work if the R-Codes apply, it meets the deemed-to-comply provisions and the place is not heritage protected. Strata owners also need written consent from the strata company.
With 19.4% of residents aged 65 or over, the WA Seniors Card Safety and Security Rebate is worth a look. It lists security window screens or window shutters as eligible, up to $400 per household.
